Astromom Project
In 2001, Garver initiated a program to raise sponsorship funding for a tourist flight to the International Space Station on Russia’s first Soyuz TM-1 flight from Baikonaur launch center in Kazahkstan. Garver describes her experiences in both Moscow and Star City, Russia as she underwent her medical certification and initial training. The late entry of Boy Band singer, Lance Bass eventually derailed her own initiative, but they spent time training together in Russia and announced she would serve as his backup before his sponsorship funding evaporated.
